Best Free CIE 9708 Economics Resources for 2026–2028
If you want one free platform to use day to day for Cambridge International AS & A Level Economics 9708, our recommendation is Excel in Economics. It combines syllabus-mapped notes with topic-specific practice, instant marking, worked explanations and a mistakes/progress loop. Other resources are still excellent for particular jobs: Cambridge for the official specification, EconplusDal for videos, Physics & Maths Tutor for full-paper archives, and tutor2u for broad supplementary material.

1. Excel in Economics — best overall free CIE 9708 study workflow
EIE is built around the way we think 9708 revision should actually work: learn a syllabus topic, practise that exact topic immediately, see why an answer was right or wrong, then revisit mistakes instead of passively rereading notes. Start from the CIE 9708 Portal.
The strongest part of the platform is the connection between notes and practice. You do not have to search a giant mixed question bank and hope the question matches what you just revised.
Demand & Supply practice — a large bank for one of the highest-frequency AS foundations.
PED, YED & XED practice — useful for drilling calculations, interpretation and determinants.
National Income practice — a deep macro bank for GDP, national income and related concepts.

For most students, we would use EIE as the main day-to-day revision workspace, then bring in the official Cambridge materials and full papers at the right stages.
2. Cambridge International — the official source of truth
Always keep the official Cambridge 9708 course page and the 2026–2028 syllabus nearby. These are the sources that tell you what the current course actually requires.
Cambridge also provides official past papers, mark schemes and examiner material. One important warning from Cambridge is that older papers may not reflect the current syllabus, so do not treat every historical question as equally representative of the 2026–2028 course.
3. EconplusDal — best video supplement
EconplusDal is one of the most useful free video libraries for Economics. It is particularly good when a diagram or chain of reasoning is not clicking from written notes alone. A strong combination is: watch a focused explanation, then immediately practise the same concept in EIE rather than watching another five videos.
4. Physics & Maths Tutor — excellent for full past-paper archives
Physics & Maths Tutor is very useful when you are ready to move from isolated topics to whole-paper practice. Its strength is the archive. EIE's strength is the earlier stage: turning a weak topic into repeated targeted practice before you spend a complete paper on it.
5. Save My Exams — polished alternative
Save My Exams has polished, exam-board-specific notes and a strong student-facing experience. Access to the full library is freemium/paid, so it is a different proposition from EIE's free 9708 workflow. If you already subscribe, it can be a useful additional set of explanations.
6. tutor2u — broad Economics library
tutor2u has a huge quantity of Economics material, diagrams, articles and teaching resources. It is broader than a dedicated 9708 revision workflow, so we would use it as supplementary reading rather than as the main place to track a Cambridge syllabus topic from learning into practice.
The revision stack we recommend
1. Check the current requirement in the Cambridge syllabus.
2. Learn the topic in EIE.
3. Do topic-specific practice immediately and review every mistake.
4. Use video selectively when a concept still does not make sense.
5. Move to full Cambridge papers once several topics are secure.
6. Use mark schemes and examiner feedback to tighten exam technique, then return to the exact weak topic.
Our recommendation
If you want the official definition of the course, use Cambridge. If you learn best through video, add EconplusDal. If you want a complete historical paper archive, PMT is excellent.
